In 1975, Ms. Burkett began her career as a dental assistant, working a variety of practices and capacities, from clinical to administrative. In 1979, Ms. Burkett earned a Diploma in Business Administration and Marketing from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. As a licensed Realtor she is a member of the Real Estate Council of British Columbia. As part of her commitment of empowerment through education, she regularly publishes articles in professional journals distributed throughout North America. Ms. Burkett also has developed and mentors educational programs. She is a sponsor for The Faculty of Dentistry at The University of British Columbia and supports many charitable organizations benefiting children and women throughout the world.
